Jon Bishop is a progressive house DJ whose roots in underground dance culture go back to the early days of the Southern California rave scene. With a background in drumming and a long history in clubs, warehouse parties, radio, and nightlife, he reads like one of those DJs who helped build the scene instead of just passing through it.
Born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan, Bishop played drums growing up before relocating to San Diego at 20, where he got pulled into the local underground rave movement. By 1990 he was already playing techno and house at clubs and warehouse events, later launching his own radio show, Sounds of the Underground, and in 1992 founding Club Hedonism, where he DJed weekly for years while also holding a monthly residency at Birmingham’s Sundissential in England.
